Spooky Sensory Saturday

Saturday, October 14 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Great sensory experiences await you and your child in this special event designed for children with sensory processing disorder and general development delay as well as their families. Lights and sounds will be dimmed to create a comfortable environment for your little ones to explore. Participate in sensory based activities to improve their ability to process and regulate sensory information. Watch a sensory-friendly stage performance, engage in calming movement groups and meet community professionals.

Pre-registration is required. Please RSVP to sensorysaturday@miamichildrensmuseum.org or call (305) 373-5437 ext. 126. MCM opens to the public at 11:00 am.

Not So Scary Family Halloween Bash

Sunday, October 15 | 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

 

Get ready to be SPOOKED at Miami Children’s Museum’s Not So Scary Family Halloween Bash on Sunday, October 15 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Whether guests Trick or Treat their way around the Museum’s galleries, brave the Haunted House, test their knowledge in the Mad Scientist Lab or create crazed crafts, families are bound to have a BEWITCHING time! All funds raised for the event will directly support MCM’s educational programs, ensuring the highest quality educational and arts programming for South Florida’s youth and families.

Family Package: $210 – 4 tickets

Individual Tickets:

  • Museum Members – $35 per child or adult until October 10 ($40 after October 10).
  • Non-members – $45 per child or adult until October 10 ($50 after October 10).

Target Free Third Friday

Friday, October 20 | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Thanks to the generosity of Target Corporation, visitors can roam the Museum free of charge, every third Friday of each month, from 4 pm to 8 pm. Due to the number of visitors on Target Free Third Fridays, we suggest leaving strollers at home or in the car.

Please note hours for Target Free Third Friday have changed, it will now be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. 

Something's Brewing After Dark

Saturday, October 21 | 9:00 pm – 1:00 am

Get ready for a night of play at the Miami Children’s Museum 3rd annual Something’s Brewing After Dark on Saturday, October 21st from 9PM-1AM! Adults get the chance to be a kid again as they explore the Museum after dark, sample brews & bites from local restaurants, enter the costume contest and brave the haunted house.

MiChiMu's Halloween Week

October 23 – October 29 | 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

Gear up for Halloween at MCM! Take a toured walks through our haunted house, and partake in some spooky science experiments. Experiment with paint in our Art Studio, and join our Creepy Light Play. On the weekend, join us for trick-or-treating sessions throughout the day! All of our educators will be in costumes. You should come in yours, too!

Mini Monster Monday

Monday, October 30 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

BOO! It’s Halloween Eve at MCM and we wanted to celebrate with the mini-est of our guests with a special Mini Monster Monday.  Dress up in the cutest or spookiest of costumes, trick-or-treat at 12:00pm and 3:30pm and join in our regular Mini Monday play based activities with a creepy twist.

MiChiMu’s Halloween

Tuesday, October 31 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Celebrate Halloween at MCM in your favorite costumes! Create some creepy crafts, play our ghostly games, and try to walk through our Haunted House. Partake in some spooky science experiments and, of course, trick-or-treating!

Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play.  Join us 10am-6pm every Monday, for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.  With no school group visits on Mondays, we ensure a safe, quieter and fun environment for your little ones to explore and enjoy.

 August 21 | Mini Solar Monday

Join us for a viewing party to see this rare occurrence of the solar eclipse! Receive special glasses to see the sun safely, and create a sun and moon to mimic the eclipse on your own. Eclipse Viewing Party from 1:30-4:00 pm, the first 150 guests at the activity will receive Solar Sunglasses.

MEET OUR STUDIO ARTISTS

Art Studio Open Daily
12:30 am to 5:00 pm

Our newly renovated Art Gallery will be opening October 16! Come check out our new art studio, and join our studio artists in creating hands-on art projects. Use your imagination and creativity, while exploring this month’s art subject, PAINTING. These art projects are fun for all ages. The Art Studio is open every day. During busy times, the Studio doors open every half hour, for about 20 visitors (adults included!). Occasionally the Art Studio may be closed during the day for cleaning or to set up a new activity. Otherwise, drop by at any time, and stay as long as you like!

**Please note our Art Studio will be closed for renovations beginning August 21, 2017 and will reopen in early October.**

MEET OUR MCM PLAYERS

Play, Learn, Imagine and Create with our in-house theatrical troupe, the MCM Players. Join this wacky team for interactive story times, dance parties, shows and more. It’s bound to be a blast!

Prehistoric Sand Exploration | Kidscape Village

We will bring out our sand box full of kinetic sand! Children can mold, sculpt, and dig up fossils!

Experiments in Art | Art Studio (starting October 16)

This month, join us in discovering the art of PAINTING. Experiment with a variety of materials, including salt, bubbles, and oil, to see what crazy things can happen to your paintings.

November 2017 | Native American Heritage Month!

Special Events

Native American Heritage Celebration

Saturday, November 4 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Learn about Native American people from all over the country and their unique cultural traditions! Visit with History Miami and local book author, Dorothy Downs, to discover Seminole and Miccosukee Indian’s patchwork art while creating your own. Create beautiful sand paintings based on the Navajo tradition, and hear different folktales. Assemble a shark tooth necklace like the members of Miami’s Tequesta tribe, and play games that were popular with New Mexico’s Zuni tribe.

Juana La Iguana: The Musical, El Misterio de las Notas Musicales

Saturday and Sunday, November 18 and November 19 | 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm 

Join us this month special bilingual performances by Juana La Iguana: The Musical, El Misterio de las Notas Musicales! Juana la Iguana and her friends embark on a fun adventure to look for missing musical notes. They challenge the villainous Tapirote, the pirate, to return his booty. Juana and the kids suspect he has hidden it somewhere. They will travel through sea, air and land chasing Tapirote to return the missing notes to the pentagram, the five lines where the music notation live. As each musical note returns to its place, music, including the best children’s songs, comes back, bringing magic and fun to the world. Juana la Iguana shows children the importance of music, friendship, and inclusion, while teaching them about Hispanic culture through songs.

Mini Thankful Monday

Monday, November 20 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

It’s the Monday before Thanksgiving and the Mini Mondays’ team has prepared a special Fall and Thanksgiving program just for your little ones. Compete in our third annual Turkey Trot, prepare your Thanksgiving Day apple sauce during Cooking Play, dive into our Sensory Play full of leaves, cinnamon and pumpkins, and watch a performance of our brand new show ‘Not a box.’  Come dressed for the season!

 

Thanksgiving Celebration

It’s time to give thanks the MCM way!  Make a thank you card for someone special, and design a placemat that you can use for the big day. Come earlier to create a banner or cardboard box float for your family and show it off in our MCM Thanksgiving Parade at 2:00 pm!

Juana La Iguana: The Musical, El Misterio de las Notas Musicales

Traditional Games
