Dr. Seuss's 113th Birthday

Thursday, March 2 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

FREE Admission thanks to The Children’s Trust

Hop on Pop and come to Dr. Seuss’ birthday party! Join us for special celebrity readers and for several original stage performances by our MCM Players. Sing Happy Birthday, cut the cake, and enjoy face painting and balloon twisting. Crawl all over our bubble wrap room, design pop-up birthday cards with Blick Art Materials, and take pictures with the Cat in the Hat

Sensory Saturday

Saturday, March 11 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Great sensory experiences await you and your child in this special event designed for children with sensory processing disorder and general development delay as well as their families. Lights and sounds will be dimmed to create a comfortable environment for your little ones to explore. Participate in sensory based activities, developed by an occupational therapist, to improve their ability to process and regulate sensory information. Watch a sensory-friendly stage performance, engage in calming movement groups and meet community professionals, such as an occupational therapist. Pre-registration is required. Please RSVP to sensorysaturday@miamichildrensmuseum.org or call (305) 373-5437 ext. 126. MCM opens to the public at 11:00 am.

International Women's Day

Saturday, March 11 | 11:00 am to 6:00 pm
MCM is celebrating the ladies! Come and learn about important women who are changing the world. Try a STEM activity with the Society of Women Engineers, and work with our Studio Artist to create crazy polka dot art inspired by Yayoi Kusama. Then celebrate our favorite female musicians in a Diva Dance Party!

Target Free Third Friday

Friday, March 17 | 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm


Thanks to the generosity of Target Corporation, visitors can roam the Museum free of charge, every third Friday of each month, from 3 pm to 9 pm. Due to the number of visitors on Target Free Third Fridays, we suggest leaving strollers at home or in the car. Thank you.

Mini Caterpillar Monday

Monday, March 20 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

It’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar Day at MCM, and it’s time to celebrate everything Eric Carle with our birth to five year old guests.   Smell, touch and taste the fruits the caterpillar munches through during the week, jump, stretch, balance like the animals in Head to Toe, make pancakes from Pancake, Pancake and sing-along and learn the days of the week with Today is Monday.

Mini MONDAYS

Every Monday

Join your Mini Monday team all day every Monday, for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five. With no school group visits on Mondays, we ensure a safe, quieter and fun environment for your little ones to explore and enjoy.

MEET OUR STUDIO ARTISTS

Art Studio Open Daily
12:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Come on in to our art studio, and join our studio artists in creating hands-on art projects. Use your imagination and creativity, while exploring this month’s art subject, COLOR. These art projects are fun for all ages. The Art Studio is open every day. During busy times, the Studio doors open every half hour, for about 20 visitors (adults included!). Occasionally the Art Studio may be closed during the day for cleaning or to set up a new activity. Otherwise, drop by at any time, and stay as long as you like!

MEET OUR MCM PLAYERS

Play, Learn Imagine and Create with our in-house theatrical troupe, the MCM Players. Join this wacky team for interactive story times, dance parties, shows and more. It’s bound to be a blast!

All children are welcome to learn and be inspired by women artists. We will be using MIXED MEDIA to create inspired and creative pieces that celebrate women in art. Get ready to go Polka Dot wild, use circles to make vibrant colorful scenes, and make your very own flower garden

Special Events

Experience Passover

Sunday, April 2 | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Come celebrate the Passover with special activities even if you are celebrating for the first time! Make a matzah cover, and design a cup for Elijah. Then, join the PJ Library at 2 pm for a fun story time, decorate a place-mat for the Seder, and munch on matzah.

Autism Awareness Day

Saturday, April 8 | 11:00 am – 6:00 pm

Come join us as we shed some light on Autism. Meet community professionals, such as an Occupational Therapist and a Speech Pathologist. Participate in an interactive music session and learn the benefits of music therapy. Families will be able to join in our movement class and enjoy a sensory-friendly stage performance.

Mini Mini Monday: Celebrating the Week of the Young Child

Kick off The Week of the Young Child™, an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, and families, with all things music.  Through music children develop math, language, and literacy skills, so stomp, clap and sing-a-long with our Mini Mondays team.

Spring Fling

Sunday, April 16 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Spring is here and it is time to celebrate the sunshine! Enjoy a Peter Rabbit puppet show with our MCM Players, and compete in our relay race. Participate in our Egg-cellent Egg Hunts happening between 12:00 and 3:00 pm and receive a goody bag! Create spring-inspired wearable art in our Art Studio, and use different painting techniques to decorate egg-shaped art.

Earth Day Extravaganza

Saturday, April 22 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Come celebrate our beautiful planet! Earth Day helps us stay aware of our environment and reminds us of ways to keep it safe and healthy. Stop by our Art Studio to create sculptures with twigs, leaves, and other natural materials. Learn about recycling with the City of Miami, and hang out with our friend, D-rop, while learning about water conservation.

This month we will be working with TEXTURE. The children will be able to explore natural materials found outside and everyday materials transformed in new ways. Get ready to create inventive sculptures, Do It Yourself aquariums, and feel the tactile experience of working with unconventional supplies.
