Sensory Friendly Saturday

Saturday, May 11 | 9:00 am – 11:00 pm

Great sensory experiences await you and your child in this special event designed for children with sensory processing disorder and general development delay as well as their families. Lights and sounds will be dimmed to create a comfortable environment for your little ones to explore. Participate in sensory based activities, developed by an occupational therapist, to improve their ability to process and regulate sensory information. Watch a sensory-friendly stage performance, engage in calming movement groups and meet community professionals, such as an occupational therapists, speech pathologists, or ABA therapists.

To receive a social story booklet, please RSVP to sensorysaturday@miamichildrensmuseum.org or call (305) 373-5437 ext. 126. The Museum opens to the public at 11:00 am.

Mother's Day

Sunday, May 12 | 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm

Join us for Mother’s Day and celebrate your mommies! Get dolled up and take Mom to our fancy Tea Party, where we will have a special performance by local ballerinas. Learn some dance moves, and enjoy a meet and greet with the ballerinas where you can take pictures and ask questions. Then, spend the afternoon with us as we create cards and special crafts for Mom.

Mini Mom's Monday

Monday, May 13 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

It’s the day after Mother’s Day and the Miami Children’s Museum Mini Mondays’ team wants to celebrate our favorite Moms. Join us on Mini Mom’s Monday for an array of activities connecting mother and child from hand- and foot-print art to sing-a-longs. Most importantly, breakfast is on us between 10:00 am-12:00 pm!

Free Third Friday Presented by Baptist Health South Florida

Friday, May 17 | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Thanks to the support of Baptist Health South Florida, every third Friday of each month, visitors can roam the Museum free of charge. Due to the number of visitors on Free Third Fridays, we suggest leaving strollers at home or in the car. Thank you.

Kodomo No Hi! Japanese Children's Festival

May 18 and 19 | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Celebrate Kodomo No Hi, which is “Children’s Day” in Japan! Write your name in Japanese calligraphy and construct simple origami. Create sumi-e paintings or festive carp banners throughout the day. Join our theater troupe for special Kamishibai Story Telling, and watch amazing Taiko drumming performances by Fushu Daiko at 1 & 3 pm. Participate in a martial arts workshop, and practice your flower arranging in an ikebana inspired art workshop.

How People Make Things Exhibit Opening

Saturday, May 25 | 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

Learn the art of making in our newest exhibit! Join us for our Grand Opening at 12 pm, and explore how to cut, deform, mold, and assemble within the gallery. Acquire new skills by trying to engrave wood or practice embroidery. Try fabric design in our Art Studio, and enjoy an original performance by our Theater Troupe.

Summertime Tinkers Summer Camp

June 10 – August 23 | 9:00 am – 3:00 pm | Ages 4 -10

This summer, Miami Children’s Museum will activate our camper’s creativity with hands on learning and experiences. Each week campers will grab their tools, tinker, explore, imagine and create something extraordinary with simple everyday objects. Campers will also enjoy a weekly theatrical performances by our in house theater troupe, participate in outdoor recreational games and activities, work in our tinker lab, cool down mid-week with water slides, and attend field trips to various local attractions. To learn more, click HERE.

Mini Mondays

Every Monday | 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play.  Join us 10am-6pm every Monday, for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.  With no school group visits on Mondays, we ensure a safe, quieter and fun environment for your little ones to explore and enjoy.

MEET OUR STUDIO ARTISTS

Art Studio – open daily | 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm (weekdays) | 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (weekends)

Come on in to our art studio, and join our studio artists in creating hands-on art projects. These art projects are fun for all ages. The Art Studio is open every day. During busy times, the Studio doors open every half hour, for about 20 visitors (adults included!). Occasionally the Art Studio may be closed during the day for cleaning or to set up a new activity. Otherwise, drop by at any time, and stay as long as you like!

Play, Learn Imagine and Create with our Museum Theater Troupe. Join this wacky team for interactive story times, dance parties, shows and more. It’s bound to be a blast!

Sand Exploration | Castle of Dreams

Children can mold, sculpt, and build their own creations in our box of kinetic sand!

Fabric Design | Art Studio

Come into the Art Studio and explore this month’s theme of FABRIC. Inspired by decorative textiles in India, we will be using paint and dye to create different patterns and shapes on bandanas. *T-shirts available for an extra fee.

SLIME Break

Saturday, June 8 & Sunday, June 9 | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Get your SLIME ON at the Museum to kick off the summer. Create your own custom slime in our Slime Room, where you can choose color, “toppings”, and even scent. Join us for a special SLIME O’CLOCK demonstrations at 1:00 and 3:00 pm, where one lucky winner will get slimed!

Father's Day

Sunday, June 16 | 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Calling all dads! Join us for a day full of fun and exciting activities that will bring you and your child together as a team. Join New York artist, Michael Albert, and create cereal box collages in our Art Studio. Help your little one create a “SuperDad” mask, and sign up for our special Dad’s Only Raffle!

Rainbow Families Day

Saturday, June 29 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

LGBT-led families and families with gender non-conforming children are encouraged to participate in a variety of fun activities. Take a beautiful family portrait in our photo booth, and decorate an original picture frame to display it. Join local artist, Edwin Hernandez, and add your piece to our collaborative art project. Enjoy a special story time and watch an original show by our theater troupe. Stop by for information from our supporting partners including Holtz Children’s Hospital, Safe Schools South Florida, and more.

Show Time: Building Noise | Auditorium | Weekends Only

Enjoy an original, interactive performance by our Theater Troupe. Follow an ordinary work day of three construction workers, who don’t build walls or towers, but instead build noise.  Through body percussion, everyday objects and boom whackers, the builders build rhythms and songs to get through their day.
