Sensory Saturday

Saturday, April 8 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Great sensory experiences await you and your child in this special event designed for children with sensory processing disorder and general development delay as well as their families. Lights and sounds will be dimmed to create a comfortable environment for your little ones to explore. Participate in sensory based activities, developed by an occupational therapist, to improve their ability to process and regulate sensory information. Watch a sensory-friendly stage performance, engage in calming movement groups and meet community professionals, such as an occupational therapist. Parents can be inspired by book author, Marc Pulver, as he talks about his book “Living Life with Autism: The World Through My Eyes”.

Pre-registration is required. Please RSVP to sensorysaturday@miamichildrensmuseum.org or call (305) 373-5437 ext. 126. MCM opens to the public at 11:00 am.

Participate in an interactive music session and learn the benefits of music therapy. Families will be able to join in our movement class and enjoy a sensory-friendly stage performance.

Sponsored in part by “All Kids Included – Accessible Arts Experiences for Kids” (AKI). AKI creates inclusive arts and cultural programs so that kids of all abilities and their families can participate fully in the arts. AKI is an initiative of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, and in part through grant funding provided by The Children’s Trust.  The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
