MiChiMu opens to the public at 12:00 pm – we’ll be hanging in our PJs, you should come in yours too!

Healthy Kids Day

Saturday, January 5 | 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Jump, skip, and hop into the New Year with games, activities, and entertainment that will get you moving, learning and living healthier! Learn some great cooking tips in our Healthy Cooking Sessions, practice your yoga moves, and see how important doctor visits are with our dolly checkups. Learn the benefits of laughter through our comical stage performances, and release your creativity in our Art Studio.

Sensory Friendly Saturday

Saturday, January 12 | 9:00 am – 11:00 pm

Great sensory experiences await you and your child in this special event designed for children with sensory processing disorder and general development delay as well as their families. Lights and sounds will be dimmed to create a comfortable environment for your little ones to explore. Participate in sensory based activities, developed by an occupational therapist, to improve their ability to process and regulate sensory information. Watch a sensory-friendly stage performance, engage in calming movement groups and meet community professionals, such as an occupational therapists, speech pathologists, or ABA therapists.

To receive a social story booklet, please RSVP to sensorysaturday@miamichildrensmuseum.org or call (305) 373-5437 ext. 126. The Museum opens to the public at 11:00 am.

Mini Healthy Monday

Monday, January 14 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

In celebration of Healthy Kids Month, Mini Healthy Monday will have you and your mini ones stretching in a yoga class, sipping colorful smoothies during cooking play and stimulating the brain with music, stories and more.

Free Third Friday Presented by Baptist Health South Florida

Friday, January 18 | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Thanks to the support of Baptist Health South Florida, every third Friday of each month, visitors can roam the Museum free of charge. Due to the number of visitors on Free Third Fridays, we suggest leaving strollers at home or in the car. Thank you.

One Day Camps

When kids are out of school, bring them to Miami Children’s Museum to play, learn, image and create! Join us as we explore new places and celebrate different cultures through original and fun activities.

Mini Mondays

Every Monday | 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play.  Join us 10am-6pm every Monday, for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.  With no school group visits on Mondays, we ensure a safe, quieter and fun environment for your little ones to explore and enjoy.

MEET OUR STUDIO ARTISTS

Art Studio – open daily | 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm

Come on in to our art studio, and join our studio artists in creating hands-on art projects. These art projects are fun for all ages. The Art Studio is open every day. During busy times, the Studio doors open every half hour, for about 20 visitors (adults included!). Occasionally the Art Studio may be closed during the day for cleaning or to set up a new activity. Otherwise, drop by at any time, and stay as long as you like!

 

MEET OUR MUSEUM THEATER TROUPE

Play, Learn Imagine and Create with our Museum Theater Troupe. Join this wacky team for interactive story times, dance parties, shows and more. It’s bound to be a blast!

Sand Art Zen Gardens | Art Studio

Come into the Art Studio and explore the medium of SAND. We will be discovering how colors and movement can help express and manage our emotions.

Sandblasting Workshops | Art Studio

Love is in the air and it’s time to celebrate the love you and your mini one have for each other on Mini Valentines Monday.  Decorate cards in our Art Studio, cook with love during Cooking Play, dance hand in hand to the music of Dance Play and simply spend quality time together.  Don’t forget to wear red and hearts!

Scratchin' Sgraffito Masks | Art Studio

Come into the Art Studio and explore the medium of OIL PASTELS. We will be focusing on artwork by Lois Mailou Jones, and learning about the technique of Sgraffito, which comes from the Italian word meaning “to scratch”.

Show Time: The Lost Pirates | Auditorium

Three Captains are washed up on Watson Island after a gigantic storm.  Watch them battle it out through sword fighting, rock-paper-scissors, song and an epic rap battle to decide who becomes captain of this here island

Maker's Play: Freedom Quilt Patchwork | Maker's Space, Art Gallery

Learn about sewing and patchwork and how it was used in history to free slaves through the Underground Railroad.

Meet the Scientists | Health and Wellness Classroom

Learn about these incredible black scientists, and see what you can discover in these fun experiments.
