Florida Grand Opera presents Bear Hug/Abrazo de Oso! by Anna Young; A short bi-lingual children's opera that is perfect for learning about friendship and kindness, as well as showcasing Zarzuela melodies.

In honor of AAPI month we will be exploring Scallion. Scallions are used widely in China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and the Philippines! We will be making Scallion pancakes!

Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with Miami-based artist Cici McMonigle, whose vibrant paintings bring to life fantastical creatures inspired by Chinese and American storytelling.

Born in Tianjin, China, McMonigle explores her multicultural identity through exuberant works that blend mythical beasts, surreal symbolism, and traditional Chinese folk toys—symbols of peace and prosperity—reimagined with a playful twist. She calls her style “a distinctive and exaggerated blend of cultural spiritualism.” Families can meet the artist, view a special pop-up display of her work, and join an interactive creature-making activity!

Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at Miami Children’s Museum with vibrant, hands-on experiences for the whole family! Explore Samoan culture through textile art in our “Samoan Hues” project, create patterned wristbands inspired by traditional tatau, and play Jianzi, a lively Southeast Asian game. Join us for a special weekend featuring a powerful Taiko drumming performance by Fushu Daiko and interactive cultural activities led by FIU’s Japan Club, Chinese Club, Korean Club, and Language Club.
