Healthy Kids Day

Saturday, January 4 | 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Jump, skip, and hop into the New Year with games, activities, and entertainment that will get you moving, learning and living healthier! Learn some great cooking tips in our Healthy Cooking Sessions, practice your yoga moves, and see how important doctor visits are with our dolly checkups. Join Florida KidCare for a special workshop, visit with Baptist Health, and learn from other healthy resources. Enjoy the benefits of laughter through our comical stage performances, and release your creativity in our Art Studio.

Sensory Friendly Saturday | New Year, New Sensory Experiences

Saturday, January 11 | 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Starting this month, Sensory Friendly Saturdays at Miami Children’s Museum will now be FREE to children with disabilities and their families!! Explore the Museum in a sensory modified supportive setting with limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments. Speak to various health professional such as occupational therapists, ABA Therapists, and other community professionals. Enjoy a sensory friendly stage performance and participate in a variety of sensory based activities meant to improve your child’s ability to process and regulate sensory information. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with other families.

Free Third Friday Presented by Baptist Health South Florida

Friday, January 17 | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Thanks to the support of Baptist Health South Florida, every third Friday of each month, visitors can roam the Museum free of charge. Due to the number of visitors on Free Third Fridays, we suggest leaving strollers at home or in the car. Thank you.

One Day Camp - Metal Working

Monday, January 20 | 9:00 am – 3: 00 pm | Ages 4 – 10

One Day Camps at Miami Children’s Museum are an experience that promises to evoke creativity in all children. Our One Day Camps will take your child on an amazing international discovery that will educate and entertain them at the same time.

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Exhibit Opening Weekend

January 25 – 26 | 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

Come ROAR with us!  Celebrate the opening of our Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, A Grr-iffic Exhibit, with our Grand Opening occurring on Saturday at 12:00 pm. Then, continue the day and the rest of the weekend with fun activities with a Grr-iffic spin on them. Our guests will also get to experience Miami Children’s Museum’s Theater Troupe’s brand new production, inspired by the social-emotional themes for the hit show, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

Mini Tiger Monday

Monday, January 27 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Every Monday | 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play.  Join us 10:00 am-6:00 pm every Monday, for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.  With no school group visits on Mondays, we ensure a safe, quieter and fun environment for your little ones to explore and enjoy.

MEET OUR STUDIO ARTISTS

Art Studio – open daily | 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm (weekdays) | 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (weekends)

Come on in to our art studio, and join our studio artists in creating hands-on art projects. These art projects are fun for all ages. The Art Studio is open every day. During busy times, the Studio doors open every half hour, for about 20 visitors (adults included!). Occasionally the Art Studio may be closed during the day for cleaning or to set up a new activity. Otherwise, drop by at any time, and stay as long as you like!

 

MEET OUR MUSEUM THEATER TROUPE

Play, Learn Imagine and Create with our Museum Theater Troupe. Join this wacky team for interactive story times, dance parties, shows and more. It’s bound to be a blast!

Sand Play | Kidscape Village

We will bring out our sand box full of kinetic sand! Children can mold, sculpt, and build their own creations!

Sandblasting Workshops | Art Studio Glass Lab

Join us for a sandblasting workshop to make your own frosted glass souvenir.

Please note, each glass item is $8 – $10.

Enjoy some of our favorite stories read by our talented storytellers.

Paper Strips Sculptures | Art Studio

12:30 pm – 5:00 pm (weekdays) | 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (weekends)

Come into the Art Studio and use colored construction paper strips to form your own sculpture. Learn about various folding, rolling, and cutting techniques that will shape your unique sculptures.

Show Time: The Monster's Under My Bed | Auditorium

12:30 pm and 4:00 pm (weekends only)

Shrieking and wailing sounds are coming from underneath Max’s bed. A monster, a witch and a pair of pale green pants with nobody inside them are determined to capture Max. But why? Enter if you dare, and discover a new, hilarious and sometimes spooky rock musical by Miami Children’s Museum Theater Troupe.

Special Events

Sensory Friendly Saturday

Saturday, February 8 9:00 am – 11:00 am

Great sensory experiences await you and your child in this special event designed for children with sensory processing disorder and general development delay as well as their families. Lights and sounds will be dimmed to create a comfortable environment for your little ones to explore. Participate in sensory based activities, developed by an occupational therapist, to improve their ability to process and regulate sensory information. Watch a sensory-friendly stage performance, engage in calming movement groups and meet community professionals, such as an occupational therapists, speech pathologists, or ABA therapists.

Mini Valentine's Day

Monday, February 10 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Love is in the air and it’s time to celebrate the love you and your mini one have for each other on Mini Valentines Monday.  Decorate cards in our Art Studio, cook with love during Cooking Play, dance hand in hand to the music of Dance Play and simply spend quality time together.  Don’t forget to wear red and hearts!

Engineer It Weekend!

February 15 – February 17 | 11:00 am – 4:00 pm 

Celebrate National Engineer’s Week with a fun-filled weekend full of STEAM activities. Participate in our Marshmallow Challenge, create your own bots, and join the Society of Women Engineers for an engaging activity. Meet real engineers and learn how they play with their work every day.

Free Third Friday Presented by Baptist Health South Florida

Friday, February 21 | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Leap Year Day

Saturday, February 29 | 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

It’s here! The day that only comes every 4 years, LEAP DAY! We’ll be practicing our physical skills in our Leaping Obstacle Course, making frog origami in our Maker Space, and transforming ourselves into frogs in our Art Studio. Get your senses going with our sensory bin play, and learn a little bit about leaping critters in a fun science experiment.

We’re celebrating Black History Month in the Art Studio this month by creating work inspired by artist El Anatsui. Use buttons, bottle caps, paper, and wire to link objects together creating an interesting connected mixed media art piece.
