Dr. Seuss’ 4-day Extravaganza! Dr. Seuss’ 116th Birthday

Saturday & Sunday, March 7th – 8th   | 11:00 am – 5:00 pm

Hop on Pop and come celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday! Enjoy original stage performances, create Truffula trees in our Art Studio, and play with our Seuss-themed sensory bins.

Mini Dr. Seuss Monday

Monday, March 9th | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss, from our mini-est of guests!  That’s right, we are celebrating all things Dr. Seuss Mini Monday style. So join us as we go beyond the pages of Dr. Seuss’ popular books and explore the words and pictures through making green eggs after watching a performance of Green Eggs & Ham, hopping and popping on a room filled with bubble wrap after reading Hop On Pop, balancing like the Cat In the Hat and catching more performances like Battle of the Things and What Was I Scared Of.

Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Party

Tuesday, March 10th | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

FREE Admission

Hop on Pop and come to Dr. Seuss’ birthday party! Join us for special celebrity readers and for several original stage performances by our Theater Troupe. Sing Happy Birthday, cut the cake, and enjoy face painting and balloon twisting. Create Truffula trees in our Art Studio, and take pictures with the Cat in the Hat.

Spring into Sensory!

Saturday, March 14th  | 9:00am – 11:00am

On the second Saturday of every month, Miami Children’s Museum offers a sensory friendly experience for children with disabilities and their families. Spring is in the air and we’re celebrating by exploring all the sensory delights it brings with it. Explore the Museum in a sensory modified supportive setting with limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments. Speak to various health professionals such as occupational therapists, ABA Therapists, and other community professionals. Enjoy a sensory friendly stage performance and participate in a variety of sensory based activities meant to improve your child’s ability to process and regulate sensory information. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with other families.

Free Third Friday Presented by Baptist Health South Florida Friday, March 20th

Friday, March 20th | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Thanks to the support of Baptist Health South Florida, every third Friday of each month, from 4 pm to 8 pm, visitors can roam the Museum free of charge. Due to the number of visitors on Free Third Fridays, we suggest leaving strollers at home or in the car. Thank you.

Mini Mondays

Every Monday | 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play.  Join us 10:00 am-6:00 pm every Monday, for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.  With no school group visits on Mondays, we ensure a safe, quieter and fun environment for your little ones to explore and enjoy.

MEET OUR STUDIO ARTISTS

Art Studio – open daily | 12:30 pm – 5:00 pm (weekdays) | 11:00 am – 5:00 pm (weekends)

Come on in to our art studio, and join our studio artists in creating hands-on art projects. These art projects are fun for all ages. The Art Studio is open every day. During busy times, the Studio doors open every half hour, for about 20 visitors (adults included!). Occasionally the Art Studio may be closed during the day for cleaning or to set up a new activity. Otherwise, drop by at any time, and stay as long as you like!

We’re celebrating Women’s Month in the Art Studio this month by creating work inspired by artist Georgia O’Keefe. Using tissue paper and glue create an O’keefe style flower or landscape collage, combining different colors of tissue paper to create depth and definitions to your piece.

Special Events

Experience Passover

Sunday, April 5th | 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Even if you are celebrating for the first time, come celebrate Passover with special activities! Join the PJ Library at 11:30 am to enjoy yummy treats, Passover-themed crafts, and a special story time. Then, join the Musical Maggid for an interactive musical performance at 12:30 pm. Enjoy the rest of the day by making matzah covers, and designing a cup for Elijah. 

 

Spring Fling

Saturday and Sunday, April 11th & April 12th | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Spring is here and it is time to celebrate the sunshine! Enjoy a Peter Rabbit story time with our Theater Troupe and be careful not to drop the eggs in our relay race. Participate in our Egg-cellent Egg Hunts happening between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm and receive a goody bag! Egg Hunts will also contain “beep eggs” to create a more sensory friendly experience. Dig into our spring-inspired sensory bins, and use different painting techniques to decorate egg-shaped art.

Mini Spring Fling Monday

Monday, April 13th | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Put on your pastels, collect your baskets and join the Mini Monday Team for Mini Spring Fling Monday. Adventure to the forest with our latest show, The Everwoods: A Lovely, Wonderful Day to Fly a Kite, balance the eggs carefully in a classic egg and spoon race and create a beautiful bouquet of tissue paper flowers.  Egg-cellent Egg hunts will be at 11:00am and 4:00pm.

Autism Awareness Month

Saturday, April 11th | 9:00 am -11:00 am

Artsy Thursday: Celebrating Week of the Young Child

Celebrate NAEYC’S Week of the Young Child through art projects in our Art Studio. We will be working on clay sculptures and easel painting which will enhance your child’s creativity, social skills, and fine motor skills.
