Special Events

Independence Day Party

Thursday, July 4 | 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

Celebrate our nation’s birthday by wearing your red, white and blue. Come and pop balloon fireworks, and sign the Declaration of Independence with your hand print. Play with giant bubbles and cool off with some delicious watermelon!

Please note the Museum will be closing at 4:00 pm in observance of Independence Day.

Sensory Friendly Saturday

Saturday, July 13 | 9:00 am – 11:00 pm

Great sensory experiences await you and your child in this special event designed for children with sensory processing disorder and general development delays as well as their families. Lights and sounds will be dimmed to create a comfortable environment for your little ones to explore. Participate in sensory based activities, developed by an occupational therapist, to improve their ability to process and regulate sensory information. Watch a sensory-friendly stage performance, engage in calming movement groups and meet community professionals, such as an occupational therapists, speech pathologists, or ABA therapists.

To receive a social story booklet, please RSVP to sensorysaturday@miamichildrensmuseum.org or call (305) 373-5437 ext. 126. The Museum opens to the public at 11:00 am.

National Ice Cream Day

July 20 –  21 

It’s hot this summer, so we’re cooling down with some ice cream! Satisfy your cravings with a free ice cream from the Florida Dairy Farmers.

Free Third Friday Presented by Baptist Health South Florida

Friday, July 19 | 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Thanks to the support of Baptist Health South Florida, every third Friday of each month, visitors can roam the Museum free of charge. Due to the number of visitors on Free Third Fridays, we suggest leaving strollers at home or in the car. Thank you.

Summertime Tinkers Summer Camp

June 10 – August 23 | 9:00 am – 3:00 pm | Ages 4 -10

This summer, Miami Children’s Museum will activate our camper’s creativity with hands on learning and experiences. Each week campers will grab their tools, tinker, explore, imagine and create something extraordinary with simple everyday objects. Campers will also enjoy a weekly theatrical performances by our in house theater troupe, participate in outdoor recreational games and activities, work in our tinker lab, cool down mid-week with water slides, and attend field trips to various local attractions. To learn more, click HERE.

Mini Mondays: Summer Series

Every Monday | 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play.  Join us 10:00 am-6:00 pm every Monday, for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.  With no school group visits on Mondays, we ensure a safe, quieter and fun environment for your little ones to explore and enjoy.

MEET OUR STUDIO ARTISTS

Art Studio – open daily | 10:30 am – 5:00 pm

Come on in and join our studio artists in creating hands-on art projects. Use your imagination and creativity, while exploring this month’s art subject, WIRE. These art projects are fun for all ages. The Art Studio is open every day. During busy times, the Studio doors open every half hour, for about 20 visitors (adults included!). Occasionally the Art Studio may be closed during the day for cleaning or to set up a new activity. Otherwise, drop by at any time, and stay as long as you like!

Play, Learn Imagine and Create with our Museum Theater Troupe. Join this wacky team for interactive story times, dance parties, shows and more. It’s bound to be a blast!

Wacky Wire | Art Studio

See what interesting 2D and 3D shapes you can use with WIRE. First, draw your design, and then follow the line to create your sculpture.

Enjoy some of our favorite stories read by our talented storytellers.

Sand Play | Kidscape Village

11:30 am  (weekends) | 12:30 pm (weekdays)

Come into the Art Studio and explore this month’s theme of FABRIC. Inspired by decorative textiles in India, we will be using paint and dye to create different patterns and shapes on bandanas. *T-shirts available for an extra fee.

Sandblasting Workshops | Art Studio Glass Lab

12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Join us for a sandblasting workshop to make your own frosted glass souvenir.

Please note, each glass item is $8 – $10.

Enjoy an original, interactive performance by our Theater Troupe. Follow an ordinary work day of three construction workers, who don’t build walls or towers, but instead build noise.  Through body percussion, everyday objects and boom whackers, the builders build rhythms and songs to get through their day.

Come see what fun with music we will have today! Whether it be a musical story time, an instrument exploration, or a dance party, you’re bound to have a good time.

Special Events

Kindergarten Kickoff

Saturday, August 3 | 10:00 am – 6:00 pm 

Is your child ready for kindergarten? Get all the tips you need to start the school year off right. Fine motor skills, numeric ordering, and sound and letter recognition are just a few of the necessary skills your child can practice before they begin their educational future. Visit with the Florida Dairy Farmers for healthy snack demonstrations and giveaways, and join our School Readiness Raffle. Hop aboard a real school bus, and practice your circle-time with an interactive music session. Resource tables from different organizations that will help ease the transition into kindergarten will also be present.
