Grand Opening Weekend (exclusively for Healthcare Heroes, First Responders and MiChiMu Members)

Saturday, May 1 – Sunday, May 2 | 10AM–12PM | 1PM–3PM | 4PM–6PM

Our Grand Reopening festivities will take place on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2 as we exclusively welcome Healthcare Heroes, First Responders and loyal MiChiMu Members for a complimentary weekend at the Museum, sponsored by Bilzin Sumberg. We invite all Healthcare Heroes, First Responders and MiChiMu Members to register in advance and reserve a complimentary session for themselves and up to 3 family members. Click HERE to reserve a session now for May 1 or 2, as capacity is limited! Healthcare/first responder employee IDs must be presented when you arrive at the Museum.

After a year of patiently anticipating a responsible time to reopen, the immersive exhibits and memorable experiences you love are now waiting to welcome you back. Come play, learn, imagine, and create with us once again during weekends in May, starting on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9! Plus, we will be giving out flowers in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9, sponsored by City National Bank.

The Museum is now operating on an advanced contactless e-ticketing system. Tickets must be purchased/reserved before your visit for one of the following timed play sessions: 10AM–12PM, 1PM–3PM, or 4PM– 6PM. There will be limited visitor capacity to allow families space to social distance and play safely, so please purchase in advance! The Museum will be cleaned and reset before each timed entry session. Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

All Month Long | In Person & Virtual 

May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! Join us virtually and in person as we celebrate and highlight our fellow Asian American and Pacific Islander friends who have helped shape the United States and the world with their rich and diverse cultures. At the Museum you can expect live interactive story times, as well as a printmaking activity inspired by Indian American artist, Arun Bose in our Art Studio! Visit Museum at Home or our social media channels (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) to enjoy special story times, try out engaging activities focusing on art, sensory STEM, and Vietnamese cooking, and check out videos about Hawaiian puppetry with actor and playwright Ākea Kahikina and Balinese Gamelan, a traditional music ensemble made up of mostly percussive instruments.

Mother’s Day

Sunday, May 9|  10:30 AM – 5:30 PM | In Person & Virtual 

Celebrate all the mother figures in your life by creating personalized cards with a printmaking project in our Art Studio. Plus, we will be giving out flowers in honor of Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9, sponsored by City National Bank.

Kodomo No Hi (Japanese Children’s Day)

Join us virtually as we celebrate the growth and happiness of children during the Japanese Kodomo No Hi! Learn about Japanese culture in Miami and create your own Koinobori, a colorful carp fish windsock. Sensory Friendly Saturday

On the second Saturday of every month, Miami Children’s Museum offers a sensory friendly experience for children with disabilities and their families. In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, we’re going to learn about the great Polynesian navigators and how they used all of their senses to navigate the ocean. Our goal is to provide your child with the opportunity to engage in social interactions and improve their processing and regulation of sensory input to optimize their understanding of and participation in natural environments. Eid al-Fitr

As we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, learn about this Muslim holiday and how it is celebrated in the US and throughout various Asian countries. Members-Only Mini Mondays

Every Monday | 10AM – 12PM | In Person

Mini Mondays are a place for infants and toddlers to grow and develop through play.  Join us every Monday in May from 10AM-12PM for a program full of play-based activities specifically designed for children from birth to five.

Playing with Printmaking (Art Studio)

Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in the studio as we create work inspired by artist Arun Bose. Bose was born in present-day Bangladesh and later created printmaking art in New York. He often used animals silhouetted against medieval Indian abstract backgrounds. Use your creativity while engraving your own design into styrofoam and transferring the image into a print.

Glass Lab: Sandblasting Workshops (Maker Space)

Learn about sandblasting while creating your own frosted glass keepsakes.
