While Miami Children’s Museum’s facility is temporarily closed to the public due to current Covid-19 restrictions, it remains dedicated to serving the community and fulfilling its mission by being a beacon for South Florida families. The Museum has joined with Caleb & Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation and partnered with Farm Share, a leading statewide food profit, to help the less fortunate and hungry in our community with an Awesome Food Giveaway on Tuesday, May 19th from 9AM to Noon at Miami Children’s Museum, 980 MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island in Miami.
It is a contactless delivery system for a drive through pickup. Cars must enter the drive to the Museum and form a line. When it is their turn, they can pull up to the distribution point with their windows up and their trunks open. There will be food packages for up to 500 families on a first come first served basis. No walk ups will be allowed.

About Caleb and Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation
Caleb and Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation is a 501(3)c non-profit focused on child advocacy, children’s social issues and water safety in the memory of Calder Jacob Sloan, whose personal mantra was laughter, adventure and kindness. Calder, affectionately known as “Mr. Awesome,” was just 7 years old when he lost his life in a tragic accident caused by the electrification of a metal light in the family’s swimming pool. Calder’s younger brother, Caleb, will play an active role in the foundation as he grows up.
Since the organization’s founding in 2016, Caleb and Calder Sloan’s Awesome Foundation has succeeded in changing pool safety codes in the state of Florida; raised awareness to the dangers of electrical wiring in pools and homes; transformed and beautified three inner-city schools with Annual Awesome Give Back Days; packed thousands of backpacks full school supplies for underprivileged children with its signature event House of Awesome; supported Parkland High School students in the wake of the deadly tragedy; responded to many numerous natural disasters with supplies and matching funds, The Annual Calder Sloan Toy Drive for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, and created Operation Puerto Rico Gift Lift and Care Lift to provide over $500,000 worth of aid and toys to the people of Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Most recently, the Foundation just completed the campaign “Covid-19 Has Met Its Match” which raised $120,000 in matching donations to over 50 charities and organizations involved in Covid-19 relief such as food banks, first responders, PPE suppliers, and hospitals. The Awesome Foundation is now embarking on a series of food giveaways for families, communities, and people in need throughout South Florida partnering with Farm Share.

About Farm Share
In 1991, food waste led to the creation of one of the nation’s most sustainable food charities, Farm Share. The organization’s founder, Patricia Robbins Alger, discovered that thousands of pounds of perfectly good fruits and vegetables were discarded daily by farmers and others because they weren’t “pretty” enough to sell commercially. Using the fresh produce for good, Farm Share began to distribute the food to agencies, soup kitchens, food banks, shelters, and churches at no cost, helping feed Florida’s most in-need residents. The Ocean Odyssey exhibit takes kids on an underwater adventure in the middle of Miami. It shows bright displays of ocean life, including coral reefs and touch tanks where children can feel sea creatures. Kids can also learn about why protecting the ocean matters through fun, interactive panels.
The Music Makers Studio is a fun place where kids can explore music. They can try digital keyboards, drums, and even record their own sounds. Kids enjoy this studio because it lets them be creative and express themselves through music.
