Outreach Programs

These 30-minute art programs are offered in-person. Each program includes up to 25 or for larger groups an additional cost may apply.

STEAM-POWERED ART

The scientific method is a toolkit used to investigate Planet Earth by observing, questioning, and experimenting. Pair it with art to discover the jown universe, from Florida’s backyard to outer space.

DEEP SEA DYES

Dive beneath the water’s surface to learn what makes the marine world so spectacular. Using oil pastels and watercolor paints, participants create their own vibrant ocean ecosystem inspired by Florida ’s unique underwater habitats.

GLIMMERING GALAXIES

Journey through the atmosphere and into outer space by exploring painting techniques with metallic and foil accents. Children experiment with vivid paints and textures to design their own sparkling spacescapes.

TEXTURED LANDSCAPES

Explore Florida's diverse terrains through multi-sensory art. Using yarn, sand, foil, and other tactile materials, participants design a layered landscape that celebrates the textures of our natural world.

FLORIDA HANDIMALS

Discover the wildlife that calls Florida home! Using handprint-based art, children learn about local animals and create imaginative portraits celebrating the creatures in their neighborhoods.

ART IN THE DARK

Use a variety of motor skills and motion plus a moving light source (like a flashlight, how stick, light brush, and fiber optics) to create an imagine using a long exposure camera. Each participant takes home their special photograph.

HOT AND COLD TEXTURED FLOWERS

Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe

Explore warm and cool color theory by creating vibrant textured flowers. Children use tissue paper, glue, and cardstock to design bold blooms that show how color temperature can transform the mood and energy of their artwork.

ART AND IDENTITY

A child’s identity is fundamental to building a positive sense of self as well as peer relations. Create artworks that celebrate cultures inspired by artists from around the world.

TEXTILE EXPRESSIONS

Inspired by Benode Behari Mukherjee

Inspired by the vibrant patterns and colors of the Indian mid-century contemporary art scene, this activity invites children to experiment with composition and pattern while creating a small textile artwork full of movement and color.

HODGEPODGE PORTRAITS

Inspired by Lisa Butler

This vibrant portrait activity invites children to layer textures, patterns, and bold color contrasts to create expressive, personality-filled faces. Participants explore identity, composition, and creative storytelling as they build portraits that celebrate individuality and imagination.

THE POWER OF A QUILT

Inspired by Harriet Powers

Be inspired by the storytelling quilts of Harriet Powers to create your own meaningful quilt squares. Using a variety of fabrics, design a quilt that represents your personal stories, memories, or dreams. This experiense fosters creativity and self-expression whlie allowing each child to share their unique narrative through the art of quilting.

PATCHWORK PASTICHE

Inspired by Chng Seok Tin

Inspired by the mixed-media collage and printmaking techniques of Chng Seok Tin, this activity invites children to experiment with layered textures, shapes, and vibrant color combinations. Participants build their own patchwork-style artwork while exploring rhythm, balance, and creative composition through open-ended mixed-media play.

FABULOUS FACE FORMS

Inspired by Augusta Savage

Unleash your inner artist by creating your own bust inspired by Augusta Savage’s scultpures. Using wire, pool noodles, cardboard, and pipe cleaners, design and build your own unique facial sculptures. This project encourages imagination and creativity as children experiment with materials to brign their artistic visions to life.
